***UPDATE 4:10 PM 5/15***
The minimum number of games required to utilize the QRF for seeding has been reduced to 12 for Baseball and Softball. Any team that does not play 12 games will be seeded after the other teams have been seeded. Lacrosse minimum remains at 9.
Tiebreaker Margin numbers will be coming out later tonight.
***UPDATE 12:06 PM 5/16***
Tiebreaker Margin for Softball has been posted. Baseball out shortly.
After looking at the numbers statewide again, another change has been made to the minimum number of games required to use the QRF for seeding. The new policy is as follows:
- In order to use the QRF for seeding, a team must play no less than 70% of the average games played in your Section at the time you are seeded.
- If the teams in your Section average 19.4 games, your minimum number will be 14.
- If the teams in your Section average 13.4 games, your minimum number will be 10.
This change was made because of the variance in games played from one part of the state to another and because some Sections seed with games still remaining on their schedule.
Mathematically, the reason for having a minimum is so we are comparing teams that play a similar number of games, and using 70% of your Section Average is a better way to measure similarity than 60% of the Statewide Average.
