Eden Prairie, which earned runner-up honors last year, is making its 12th consecutive and 21st overall appearance. Eden Prairie is looking for its 11th title. The Eagles won previously in 1996, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Minnetonka returns for its second consecutive appearance and fourth overall. The Skippers lost in the quarterfinals last year and won one previous title in 2004.

Eden Prairie prefers to keep the ball on the ground. The Eagles rushed for 3,074 yards and completed 67 of 94 passing attempts for 1,092 yards this year. Senior Solo Falaniko rushed for 1,521 yards and scored eight touchdowns on 205 carries. Junior quarterback Cole Kramer ran the passing game with 1,092 yards and 17 touchdowns on 67 completions. Kramer’s favorite target was senior Jack Tuttle who had 21 receptions for 394 yards and five touchdowns. Senior Antonio Montero paced Eden Prairie’s defense with 98 tackles, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. The Eagles average 34.8 points per game while their opponents average 9.1 points against them.

The Minnetonka Skippers split their offense between their running and passing games. They rushed for 1,912 yards and completed 119 of 199 passing attempts for 1,606 yards. Senior Adam Livingston carried the ball 223 times and tallied 1,096 yards and 16 touchdowns. Junior Aaron Syverson is the quarterback for Minnetonka. He completed 117 of 196 pass attempts this season and racked up 1,557 yards and 12 touchdowns. Syverson also rushed for 357 yards and six touchdowns. Senior Jack Beil led the Skippers’ defense with 49.5 tackles, one fumble recovery, and three interceptions. Minnetonka averages 28.8 points per game this season and their opponents’ average 12.4 against them.
